Gear Motor 6MM

A 6mm Gear Motor (specifically the 12V version) typically refers to a Center Shaft DC Geared Motor. The “6mm” refers to the diameter of the output shaft, while the motor body itself is usually much larger (typically 32mm to 37mm in diameter).

These motors are the “workhorses” of mid-sized robotics because they offer a perfect balance of speed and high torque.

 Pin and Shaft Description

  these motors have only two terminals.

• Positive (+) Terminal: Usually marked with a red dot or a “+” sign. Connecting this to the positive voltage makes the motor spin in one direction (Clockwise).

• Negative (-) Terminal: Connecting this to the positive voltage (and the other to ground) reverses the direction (Counter-Clockwise).

• The Shaft (6mm):

  • Shape: Most have a “D-shaft” (circular with one flat side) to prevent wheels or gears from slipping.

  • Feature: Many include a small internal threaded hole (usually M3) at the tip for bolting wheels directly to the shaft.
